[Announcement] Most-read Recommendations and Reports of the Fourth Quarter of FY2025

Thank you for your continuing support of Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI).
We would like to share with you the top five most read recommendations and reports from the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2025.

[Policy Recommendations] The Path to a Sustainable Healthcare System: Three Key Objectives for Public Deliberation

HGPI has compiled key directions for securing a sustainable healthcare system for the next generation. This summary is based on multiple sessions of multi-stakeholder discussions, involving members from industry, government, academia, and civil society, and highlights three perspectives: “benefits,” “burdens,” and the societal implementation process.”

[Research Report] The 2026 Public Opinion Survey on Healthcare in Japan

From December 2025 to January 2026, HGPI conducted a nationwide public opinion survey of 1,000 men and women age 20 years and over. Since 2006, HGPI has regularly conducted public opinion surveys on issues surrounding healthcare and health policy to understand the needs of the public.

In addition to gauging public satisfaction in healthcare as in previous years, this year’s survey included new questions on items such as health management, the use of healthcare services, attitudes toward self-medication, and the future that citizens envision for the healthcare system.

[Research Report] Energy Conservation and Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction in Healthcare Facilities: Case Studies from New Construction and Facility Renewal

The Planetary Health Project has published a report titled “Energy Conservation and Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Healthcare Facilities: Case Studies from New Construction and Facility Renewal”. The report draws on practical knowledge from three medical institutions, providing a replicable framework for medical organizations undertaking facility renewal, with the goal of simultaneously reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, improving operational management, and strengthening disaster response capabilities.

[Policy Recommendations] Reshaping Japan’s Immunization Policy for Life Course Coverage and Vaccine Equity: Challenges and Prospects for an Era of Prevention and Health Promotion

HGPI has released policy recommendations titled, “Reshaping Japan’s Immunization Policy for Life Course Coverage and Vaccine Equity: Challenges and Prospects for an Era of Prevention and Health Promotion”.

These recommendations revisit the fundamental principle of Japan’s immunization and vaccination programs, to prevent vaccine preventable diseases (VPD), and outline the long-term direction for future immunization and vaccine policy in Japan.

[Recommendations] Kidney Disease Control Promotion Project “Policy Recommendations on Strengthening Chronic Kidney Disease Strategies: Challenges and Solutions in Seeking Medical Care from the Perspective of Patients and Those Affected”

HGPI conducted a Quantitative Survey (part III) and a Qualitative Interview Survey (part IV) with the aim of clarifying the options, decisions, and difficulties experienced by individuals with health checkup findings suggestive of CKD in the process from checkup to treatment. Based on the results of these surveys, an Advisory Board Meeting was held on March 18, 2025, bringing together nephrologists and specialists in occupational health, public health, and health economics. The meeting served to deepen discussions on how to improve future CKD countermeasures, such as examining the target groups for whom post-checkup treatment recommendations should be intensified, and the results were compiled as Policy Recommendations (part V).
