Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI) Chair Mr. Ryoji Noritake participated as a moderator at the Asia-Pacific Heart Summit hosted by ACCESS Health International in Bangkok, Thailand, on October 18-19, 2024. Additionally, Mr. Shotaro Tsukamoto, Senior Associate, attended the CVD PATIENTS’ ROUNDTABLE (organized by ACCESS Health International and co-hosted by Global Heart Hub) held at the same venue on October 20.
In light of the fact that Japan is one of the few countries in the Asia-Pacific region that has developed legislation specifically for CVD control, a session titled “Panel: Spotlight on Japan’s CVD control policy” examined the path to the enactment of the “Basic Act on Countermeasures for Stroke, Heart Disease and Other CVDs to Extend Healthy Life Expectancies” together with speakers from Japan that included Japanese people living with CVDs and experts from Japan. Speakers also examined issues related to participation for people with lived experience with CVDs in the promotion of CVD control measures in Japan.
During the CVD Patients’ Roundtable, participants introduced the healthcare systems surrounding CVD control in each country and discussed the healthcare provision systems needed to deliver high-quality CVD care to patients and other affected parties.
