■Overview
The National ICT Institute in de Zorg (NICTIZ) was established in 2002 as a result of the Netherlands’ early advocacy for electronic versions of all patients’ medical information on a global scale. In April 2011, the Netherlands’ Senate voted against the idea of expanding a health ICT network nationally in response to public concern regarding privacy matters. Opinions were mixed among professional associations and political parties as well. The Netherlands’ experience of confronting opposition at the height of health ICT implementation, as well as its advanced policies and best practices, hold valuable lessons for Japan.
The main theme of the lecture will be lessons learned and transitions in health ICT in the Netherlands.
