Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI) Associate Ms. Nana Moriguchi delivered a video presentation titled “The Basic Act on Dementia and Well-being for Promoting an Inclusive Society” at the 29th Annual Conference of the Japan Academy of Home Care.
In her presentation, she provided an overview of the legislative background and process of the Basic Act on Dementia. From a health and well-being promotion perspective, she emphasized that it is society’s responsibility to ensure that the fundamental human rights of all people, whether they have dementia or not, are respected, and that they can control the determinants affecting their quality of life and living.
As a measure to achieve this, she highlighted the importance of active participation by patients and citizens in each region in the policy-making process, and the need to promote the development and progress of municipal dementia policy promotion plans.
