For details, please view the PDF provided bottom.
■Background of these recommendations
In June 14, 2023, the “Basic Act on Dementia to Promote an Inclusive Society (Basic Act on Dementia)” was enacted, marking a major turning point in Japan’s dementia policy.
In August 2024, the division of Dementia Policy and Community-Based Long-Term Care Promotion, Health and Welfare Bureau for the Elderly, Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare conducted a “Call for Public Comments on The Basic Plan on Dementia to Promote an Inclusive Society (Draft) and Basic Measures (Draft).”
The HGPI Dementia Project has submitted its opinions in response to this call for public comments, and has prepared policy recommendations entitled “Dementia Policy for an Inclusive Society 2024: HPGI Recommendations on the Basic Plan for The Basic Plan on Dementia to Promote an Inclusive Society (Draft) and Basic Measures (Draft).” based on these opinions. The intent of these recommendations is to inform society of the content of the HGPI Dementia Project’s response to that call for public comments to provide society with policy options in the discussion on the Basic Plan for the Promotion of Policies on Dementia, which will soon come to a close, as well as in discussions on future versions of the Basic Plan.
