[Registration Closed] Designing for Dementia Briefing Session 2024 – Conversations on the Trajectory of Our Activities and Envisioning the Future (December 3, 2024)
date : 11/1/2024
Tags: Dementia
Designing for Dementia was established by the Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI) Dementia Project in collaboration with Keio University’s Center for Wellbeing Research, issue+design, and the Dementia Friendship Club, and it operates in pursuit of the mission of “achieving better coexistence with dementia in the future.”
Under this mission, Designing for Dementia activities are centered on the thoughts, experiences, and wisdom of people living with dementia, and involve collaboration among people living with dementia, their families and supporters, community members, health and welfare professionals, companies, local governments, related ministries and agencies, designers, students, and researchers. Starting from the voices of people living with dementia, we create opportunities for people to meet and learn from each other while advancing one step at a time together with a wide range of related parties to develop and improve services and products, build communities, and develop government policies.
Five years after Designing for Dementia launched in 2018, with support from longstanding efforts to create dementia-friendly and inclusive communities from many people, the “Basic Act on Dementia to Promote an Inclusive Society” was enacted in 2023 and went into effect on January 1, 2024. At this Briefing Session, we would like to review Designing for Dementia’s past activities and create a space for conversations that will envision the future with all participants with the intent of creating an inclusive society.
We wish to create more communities where people living with dementia can live with peace of mind, to drive ongoing development of businesses and services that support and enrich the lives of people living with dementia, to make it normal for workplaces to be places where employees or staff members and their families can continue working even if they develop dementia, to enable you and your loved ones to be able to live with a smile even if you develop dementia, and to utilize your thoughts, experiences, and wisdom for the present and future. We sincerely hope you will join us.
