Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI) held the third advisory board meeting for the Immunization and Vaccination Policy Promotion Project, entitled “Data Collection and Application to Appropriately Evaluate Vaccination Outcomes .”
Following the discussion at the first meeting, the discussion held at the third advisory board meeting focused on issues encountered during the three stages of data collection, data comparison and sharing when using multiple databases, and evaluating collected data when using databases containing information related to vaccine coverage, the survey system on infectious diseases, and reports of adverse vaccine reactions.
Various points that will need to be considered to achieve a life-course approach were raised during the discussion. These included the significance of clearly demonstrating vaccine effects by developing databases; the future possibilities of information disclosure, related personal information protection, and their legal provisions; and the current situation surrounding the digitization of vaccine records by the Japanese Government as well as its relation to the vaccine surveillance system.
Due to the circumstances regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, this meeting was held online.
