[Registration Open] (Hybrid Format) Multidisciplinary Symposium for Cardiology, Nephrology, and Metabolic Medicine “Future Actions for Making Full Use of the Health Checkup System: Connecting Checkups to Treatment From the Perspective of Data Linkage” (July 6, 2026)
date : 6/15/2026
In addition to the presence of shared risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, and dyslipidemia among cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic diseases, there is a growing body of evidence that these systems are linked in a manner that there is mutual promotion of their respective health concerns. These health concerns include kidney diseases, particularly chronic kidney disease (CKD); CVDs such as heart failure and myocardial infarction; and metabolic disorders, such as insulin resistance and visceral fat accumulation. With the recent addition of serum creatinine to the list of legally-mandated health checkup items, the scope of efforts for early detection in the area of kidney disease is also expanding. Given this context, there is a growing need for a cross-cutting review of the connections from health checkups to medical examinations and treatment from the perspectives of cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic diseases. There are also ongoing global discussions on the detection and evaluation of risk factors that are difficult to capture with existing health checkup items (such as genetic cardiovascular risk factors), so we must also identify issues in the domestic health checkup system and discuss methods of improving it.
Given these circumstances, there is a need for a thorough examination on how Japan can establish an effective system that links health checkups to medical treatment and that spans the fields of cardiology, nephrology, and metabolic medicine. In response, HGPI will host a multidisciplinary symposium to examine the current health checkup system and identify issues surrounding post-checkup healthcare. Focusing on the ideal data infrastructure, particularly for linking health checkup and medical treatment data, we will bring together parties such as people living with cardiovascular, renal, or metabolic diseases, policymakers, experts, insurers, and government officials to explore measures for connecting health checkups to treatment and continuous management as well as to develop a vision of our future direction.
*Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. The registration form will close once capacity is reached.
