Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI) Senior Manager Mr. Shunichiro Kurita gave a lecture at “Considering Health Insurance System Sustainability Ahead of 2040,” the 21st Information Exchange Meeting of the Insurance Union of Societies Related to Nursing.

In a lecture titled “The Future of the Health Insurance System and the Act of Driving Policy,” Mr. Kurita referenced discussions in political philosophy and history to explain foundational concepts of Japan’s social security system, including the public health insurance system. This was followed by a summary of current circumstances surrounding the social security system and Mr. Kurita’s personal views on the future direction of systemic reform. Furthermore, in the context of these circumstances in society, Mr. Kurita also shared the importance of advocacy in policy formulation and expressed his high expectations for evidence building from nursing societies, the sublimation of their findings in policy recommendations, and their widespread adoption in society.

HGPI will continue collaborating with various related academic societies to provide opportunities for discussion on future health policy and to present policy options to society.
