Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI) Senior Manager Mr. Shunichiro Kurita participated in the 25th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Dementia Care, where he gave a lecture titled “The Legislative Process of the Basic Act on Dementia and Global Trends in Dementia Policies” during Symposium 4: Dementia Measures Around the World and Sharing Information from Japan. His lecture shared the results of a policy process model analysis of the legislative process for the Basic Act on Dementia, which was enacted on January 1, 2024. He also covered how people living with dementia played key roles in that process and how the achievements of Japan’s dementia measures are a major shared asset for the international community. Mr. Kurita stated that proactively providing the international community with information from Japan is significant.
