Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI) Manager Ms. Yuko Imamura gave a lecture titled, “The Importance of Efforts from Employers to Address Female Employees’ Health Issues” at the 9th General Meeting of the Parliamentary Association for the Promotion of Femtech (Chairperson: House of Representatives member Ms. Seiko Noda; Secretary General: House of Representatives member Mr. Takuma Miyaji).
During the lecture, Ms. Imamura introduced the results of the surveys conducted by the HGPI Women’s Health Project team titled, “Survey on Health Promotion and Working Women 2018” and “The Public Opinion Survey on Child-Rearing in Modern Japan.” She also shared the following four recommendations, which are based on the association between labor productivity and health literacy regarding women’s health and as well as on the relationships among factors like history of diagnosis and treatment for health concerns like endometriosis, age at first gynecological examination, and ability to have children among people who want to.
Recommendation 1: Reinforce support for improving health literacy regarding physiological and psychological changes unique to women.
Recommendation 2: Establish systems for improving access to gynecologists.
Recommendation 3: Build mechanisms that enable female workers who notice symptoms to recognize that their symptoms may signify hidden yet serious health concerns.
Recommendation 4: Promote further studies and research in this field.
