Aiming to create a society in which all young people can exercise self-determination regarding their reproductive health and rights, Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI) has established Youth Terrace, a reproductive health platform, this fiscal year. We are pleased to announce that the Youth Terrace website was officially launched on November 1, 2021.
Youth Terrace will perform three main functions, which can be found around the core of the concept diagram below. Clockwise from the left, they are: (1) provide comprehensive sex education to educational institutions nationwide; (2) provide consultation services and information to young people; and (3) conduct research and issue policy recommendations. The Youth Terrace website was launched as a pillar for providing consultation services and information to young people.
In addition to an appointment page for Youth Café events, where young people can receive in-person or remote consultations regarding problems related to sex and health, visitors to the Youth Terrace website can sign up for comprehensive sex education (CSE) lectures provided by educational institutions and read interviews with attendees of our CSE lectures, messages from the midwives providing CSE and consultation services, and messages from obstetricians and gynecologists. There is also a section where visitors can submit requests for policies related to reproductive health and rights in Japan and a voting system so young people and other interested parties can easily make their voices heard. With cooperation from various companies and organizations, we are also coordinating with other websites to ensure visitors to our website can access correct knowledge about sex, menstruation, and women’s health in general, as well as receive guidance to the institutions that best fit their needs.
In the future, we will be expanding the Youth Terrace website with new content, so please stay tuned for updates.
