Thank you for your continuing support of Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI).
Thanks to our supporters, we were able to publish recommendations and reports in 2024 by working with a diverse group of people in a wide range of field. We would like to share with you the top five most read recommendations and reports published by HGPI last year.
[Research Report] The 2023 Public Opinion Survey on Satisfaction in Healthcare in Japan and Healthcare Applications of Generative AI
In December 2023, HGPI conducted a nationwide survey titled, “The 2023 Public Opinion Survey on Satisfaction in Healthcare in Japan and Healthcare Applications of Generative AI” among 1,000 men and women 20 years of age and over.
[Policy Recommendations] Planetary Health Project”Developing a National Health and Climate Strategy for Japan”
This policy recommendation outlines specific measures for enhancing the resilience of Japan’s healthcare system to climate change, transitioning to decarbonization, and increasing sustainability. Climate change, a key planetary health issue, is the greatest public health challenge of the 21st century. Considering the environmental impact from the healthcare sector, it is crucial to present a roadmap to protect both human and environmental health.
We hope this policy recommendation will help policymakers and stakeholders in advancing policies to address planetary health issues.
[Policy Recommendations] Kidney Disease Control Promotion Project 2023 “Establishing Kidney Disease Control Measures with Patient, Citizen, and Community Engagement and Collaboration” Policy Recommendations, a Collection of Good Practices of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and Control Measures in Local Governments
Project for the Kidney Disease Control Promotion has presented policy recommendations and a collection of good practices entitled “Kidney Disease Control Promotion Project 2023 ‘Establishing Kidney Disease Control Measures with Patient, Citizen, and Community Engagement and Collaboration’ Policy Recommendations, a Collection of Good Practices for Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and Control Measures by Local Governments” in preparation for World Kidney Day 2024 (March 14).
[Policy Recommendations] Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) Support Project “Promoting PPI in the Policymaking Process”
The Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) Support Project aims to incorporate the voices of a wide range of patients and citizens in the policymaking process, regardless of the types of diseases and affected areas, contributing to our mission of “achieving citizen-centered health policy.” Based on previous discussions, we published a “Guidance on PPI in Health Policymaking” and policy recommendations “Promoting PPI in the Policymaking Process,” which compile efforts necessary to be made for patients and citizens, the recipients of medical services, to participate more proactively in health policymaking processes. In hopes of seeing PPI implemented in the policymaking process as described in that Guidance, these six recommendations summarized specific initiatives that must be taken, especially by central ministries and agencies as well as by local governments.
We hope that our recommendations will help policy makers and stakeholders to more effectively implement patient and public involvement in the policymaking process.
[Policy Recommendations] Obesity Control Promotion Project 2023 “The Next Steps for Engaging and Cooperating with Patients, Citizens, and Communities for Implements of Obesity Control Measurements”
In 2023, to deepen and implement the recommendations made in 2022, interviews were conducted with patients suffering from obesity and with medical professionals. Advisory board meetings were also held consisting of experts from industry, government, academia, and the private sector. Based on our understanding of the actual conditions and issues surrounding people living with obesity taken from the perspectives in the medical field and within society, we propose obesity countermeasures that are required in society and medical care.
In addition to those featured here, we have published recommendations and reports for each of our projects. On Our website, you can find the recommendations and reports we have published up to now, project by project and fiscal year by fiscal year.
