[Lecture Report] Japanese Association of Medical Technologists – Technologist Seminar (September 14, 2025, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo)

Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI) Senior Manager Mr. Shunichiro Kurita gave a lecture as part of the Certified Dementia Medical Technologist Seminar hosted by the Japanese Association of Medical Technologists and held alongside the 14th Annual Meeting of the Japan Society for Dementia Prevention.
During the lecture, which was titled “The Basic Act on Dementia and Dementia Policies from Local Governments,” Mr. Kurita described past developments in dementia policies and shared an overview of changes in society’s perceptions of dementia that provided the backdrop for said policies. Mr. Kurita also introduced the process used to formulate the Basic Act on Dementia for an Inclusive Society and specific items included in that Act. Then, using specific examples, Mr. Kurita explained how dementia policies are developed at local governments, which is an area where full-scale efforts are set to advance in the future.
