Welcoming Remarks/Keynote Address
Welcoming remarks were given by Governor Yuji Kuroiwa of Kanagawa Prefecture, explaining the concept of “ME-BYO” (which is the idea that systems should focus on addressing transition phases between health and sickness), Kanagawa Prefecture’s Healthcare New Frontier Policy and MIS vision for human resource development. Professor Kan Hiroshi Suzuki of Public Policy from the University of Tokyo elaborated that MIS will be world’s one of a kind graduate school, different from all the other schools of public health. It will utilize Kanagawa Prefecture’s extended networks, involving research institutes and industry domestically and internationally. Professor Suzuki emphasized that in addition to human resource development, MIS will contribute to policy makings by Kanagawa Prefectural Government as a think tank, and development of community health and wellness of its residents through ME-BYO education and initiatives.
