[Invitation] The 41st Special Breakfast Meeting

Invitation to HGPI Special Breakfast Meeting
“ICT in Social Security, Women’s Empowerment, and the Future of Japan”

Guest Speaker: Ms. Seiko Noda (Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications; Minister in Charge of Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality)

Thank you for your continued support of Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI). It is our pleasure to invite you to a special breakfast meeting featuring Ms. Seiko Noda, Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications and Minister in Charge of Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality.

As you know, the “Act on Promotion of Women’s Participation and Advancement in the Workplace” was put into effect in 2015 to encourage women to take charge of shaping their own lives, with support and understanding from partners, regarding childbirth, child-rearing, and the continuation of employment. In addition, the recently announced “Intensive Policy to Accelerate the Empowerment of Women 2018” and the “Basic Policy on Economic and Fiscal Management and Reform 2018” clearly emphasize the importance of support for the health of women throughout the lifespan, which will enable each individual to maximize her abilities and reach her fullest potential according to her own wishes. HGPI conducted a “Survey on Health Promotion and Working Women” to also provide recommendations for the creation of a society that promotes women’s active participation, but in the future, we anticipate even further progress in terms of health promotion policies that contribute to the empowerment of women.

To that end, Minister Noda will share her insights with you regarding the current status of women’s empowerment and its surrounding concerns. She will also address the future outlook of Japan’s increasingly globalized society and its social security system as viewed from the perspective of women’s empowerment. Within the field of Internal Affairs, Minister Noda plays an important role in the promotion of healthcare ICT, which includes a variety of communication technologies, so she will also discuss with you these perspectives as well. We sincerely apologize for this short notice due to the National Assembly schedule, but we would be most grateful if you could join us at this event. We look forward to welcoming you to the meeting.
