[Event Report] The 13th Session of Health Policy Academy, Lecture 5 —The Medical Service Fee System— (November 7, 2024)

Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI) held the fifth lecture of the 13th session of Health Policy Academy (HPA), “Citizenship and Health Policy”.

In the fifth lecture, Ms. Manami Takamatsu (National Federation of Health Insurance Societies) delivered a lecture on the theme of the “Medical Service Fee System.” The lecture provided an overview of Japan’s health insurance system and the framework of medical service fees, while mentioning the future direction of the healthcare delivery system.

At the 13th Health Policy Academy, participants spend approximately six months exploring how to engage with health policy as citizens. The curriculum is structured in steps, from the basics of policy, through theory and analysis, to practical application. Each lecture will feature instructors who are currently active in their respective fields, and participants from diverse backgrounds will engage in discussion. Through group work aimed at creating policy proposals that serve as the final assignment, the program aims to equip participants with the mindset necessary for the actual policy-making process.
