On December 9, 2025, Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI) co-hosted the Unitaid Partners Forum, titled “Driving Innovation and Access in Global Health toward UHC,” in Tokyo together with Unitaid and Nagasaki University. The forum was held in advance of the 48th Unitaid Board Meeting, which took place in Tokyo from December 10 to 11, and served as an important opportunity for dialogue in preparation for the first-ever Unitaid Board Meeting to be convened in Japan.

The event brought together approximately 120 participants from Japan and abroad, including representatives from Unitaid, the Government of Japan, research institutions, private-sector, international organizations, civil society organizations such as non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and non-profit organizations (NPOs), as well as members of diplomatic missions based in Japan. Through the presentation of concrete examples of collaboration between Unitaid and Japanese companies and research institutions, as well as exchanges of views on future areas for cooperation, the forum fostered a shared understanding toward cross-sector, multi-stakeholder collaboration and outlined pathways for leveraging Japan’s expertise and technologies to advance global health.
