Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI) Manager Mr. Shunichiro Kurita gave a lecture titled “Trends in Building Dementia-Friendly Societies in Japan and Abroad” as the third part of the Dementia Supporter Training Step-Up Seminar co-hosted by Toin University of Yokohama and the Azamino Store Association of Aoba Ward, Yokohama City.
While sharing the current status and future prospects for building dementia-friendly societies, Mr. Kurita introduced recent examples in developments for dementia to highlight the importance of community efforts in building dementia-friendly societies. Examples introduced included Scotland’s Links Worker Programme, which provides support to people with dementia after diagnosis, as well as trends in local ordinances related to dementia in Japan.
