In addition to sharing the results of the literature review included in the policy white paper on dementia presented by HGPI in 2017 entitled, “A Social Prescription for Dementia – Enabling Early Detection and Diagnoses through the Building of a Dementia-friendly Community,” Mr. Kurita presented the five following recommendations to guide dementia policy in the future.
■ Make persistent efforts to promote understanding of dementia
■ Build support systems that keep the period after diagnosis in view
■ Engage in community development with multi-stakeholders
■ Verify the effects of every initiative
■ Develop dementia policies at the local level under the leadership of local governments
As a precaution against the spread of COVID-19, only lecturers attended the meeting in-person and the presentations were streamed online. The footage will be available for on-demand streaming at a later date. For details, please see the website for the 35th Meeting of the Japanese Psychogeriatric Society here.
