Comments from Health of Global Policy Institute (HGPI) Manager Mr. Shunichiro Kurita’s were included in an article on dementia inclusivity published in the Asahi Shimbun.
Speaking on his research on regulations for dementia, Mr. Kurita said, “The regulation formulation process allows local governments to obtain a firm grasp of issues related to protecting people with dementia and upholding their rights and can lead to policies that reflect local conditions. Thorough processes create opportunities for members of the public to recognize dementia as something that is close to them.” (Translated excerpt from original article.)
HGPI is currently hosting meetings of the Comparative Research Group on Local Regulations for Dementia in partnership with Designing for Dementia. Founded on the concept of realizing a more dementia-friendly future, this research group will compare existing regulations related to dementia to identify the best processes for formulating such regulations and determining their content. Discussions are advancing with the goal of presenting an interim report in March 2021.
