On the 18 December 2012, the Health and Global Policy Institute and the Leading Aging Society Forum joint hosted the event ‘Site Visit and Opinion Exchange Session on Local Resident Healthcare Support in Ishinomaki’. The event aimed to help with the rebuilding of integrated healthcare and lifestyle support systems for citizens in Yamada Town, Iwate Prefecture, which will enable local people living in this disaster-affected area to have an environment that gives them a better sense of peace of mind.

On the day of the event, six individuals involved with the recovery efforts in Yamada Town participated along with HGPI Senior Associate Kazumi Kubota. The participants received explanations of the practical execution of healthcare support for local residents in Onagawa Town and Ishinomaki City, and engaged in a lively exchange of opinions.
