Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI) and Designing for Dementia co-hosted the second meeting of the Comparative Research Group on Local Regulations for Dementia. The group was formed with the goal of achieving better coexistence with dementia in the future by comparing existing local regulations related to dementia, to examine the content of those regulations, and to consider the ideal procedures for formulating regulations related to dementia.
The discussion held at the third meeting of the Comparative Research Group on Local Regulations for Dementia was mainly centered around a comparison table for dementia regulations which the group will present at a later date. This discussion provided an opportunity for everyone to deepen their understanding of evaluation methods and how to interpret their results. By organizing the comparison table and finding the best place for each item, group members were able to consider which regulations the group should focus its efforts on as well as the ideal role for the group to play. Members were also able to reexamine various topics related to regulations and how regulations should function, including the concept of regulations, definitions of related terms, the events leading up to and after the enactment of regulations, and the scope of regulations. We plan to share detailed content from the discussion in our interim report.
As a general rule, every meeting of this research group will be held online as a COVID-19 countermeasure. The group plans to release an interim report at the end of FY2020.
