On August 31st and September 1st 2019, HGPI CEO and Board Member Mr. Ryoji Noritake participated in the Nikkei Asia Africa Conference on Communicable Diseases in Yokohama.
The conference was held immediately after the 7th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (the TICAD7) in Yokohama. It was an opportunity to hold discussions on ways for Japan to make contributions in the field of communicable diseases in the context of future coordination and cooperation between regions in Asia and Africa.
Mr. Noritake moderated a special lecture held on September 1st. He led a panel discussion with Dr. Seth Berkley (CEO, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance) and Mr. Masahiko Kiya (Deputy Assistant Minister, Ambassador for TICAD, African Affairs Department, International Cooperation Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs). The speakers opened their hearts and commented freely on topics such as the future direction of Gavi fundraising, expectations for Japan’s leadership, and TICAD’s results and lessons for the future.
