[Lecture Report] The 3rd Well Aging Society Summit Asia-Japan (the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), October 12, 2020, Chuo-ku, Tokyo)

Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI) Board Member and CEO Mr. Ryoji Noritake served as moderator of a discussion held at the 3rd Well Aging Society Summit Asia-Japan hosted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). The discussion was entitled “How to Form Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) to Achieve a Dementia-Inclusive Society.”
At the panel discussion, Mr. Noritake was joined by Mr. Shigehiro Tanaka (Deputy Vice-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry), Mr. Keisuke Naito (Corporate Officer, Chief Digital Officer, Head of Consumer Experience Transformation HQs, Deputy President, Eisai Japan), Mr. Ville Niemijärvi (CEO and Co-founder, Onerva Care), and Professor Bart Scheerder (Director Innovation in Digital Health, University Medical Center Groningen). They held an active discussion in which they shared examples of successful partnerships in Japan and from overseas and explored various topics in building dementia-friendly societies such as forming PPPs, sustainability in the business sector, and defining standards for dementia-friendliness.
Mr. Noritake also participated in the closing session alongside Mr. Takuma Inamura (Director, Healthcare Industries Division, Commerce and Service Industry Policy Group, METI), Dr. Hiroaki Kitano (President and CEO, Sony Computer Science Laboratories, Inc.), Ms. Janice Chia (Founder, Ageing Asia), and Dr. Takanori Fujita (Project Lead, Healthcare Data Project, World Economic Forum Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution Japan). Together, they shared information on a variety of topics and discussed issues and solutions mentioned during each session of the summit. Other topics they addressed included the Moonshot Research and Development Program and efforts in digital health.
