Consultation on Medical Support to Stricken Areas in Iwate Prefecture
date : 9/3/2011
Together with Project HOPE, the international medical relief organization, HGPI made a visit to Iwate Prefecture to put into practice some of the support plans outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding signed May 31 between Governor of Iwate, Takuya Tasso, and Fred Gerber, in charge of Japanese support for Project HOPE.
On September 2, we met with health and welfare specialists in the town of Yamada, including deputy mayor Shoichi Sato, and the following day deliberated with health and welfare experts from Iwate Prefecture.
Based on these on-site consultations, Project HOPE was able to evaluate the evolving urgent and mid- to long-term needs, and confirmed their continuation of comprehensive medical support.
