The fourth lecture of the 15th session of Health Policy Academy (HPA), organized by Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI), was held.
In this lecture, Dr. Shintaro Tamate, Professor at the Department of Political Studies, Faculty of Law, Gakushuin University, spoke on the ethical perspectives essential to examining health policy. As foundational concepts in public health ethics, he introduced the harm principle and paternalism, along with six ethical principles, including the principle of least restriction and the principle of proportionality. Through these, participants learned perspectives for examining policy ideas. The session also included group work, in which participants discussed actual policy ideas as a team, providing an opportunity to apply the theories they had learned.
