About Privacy Policy

Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI) shall establish, in relation to the protection of personal information, the “Personal Information Protection Policy” (hereinafter referred to as the “Privacy Policy”) provided below and shall endeavor to comply with it.


When handling personal information, the Institute shall comply with the Private Information Protection Law as well as with all relevant laws and regulations and shall securely and appropriately use, store, and process such information.

Compliance Rules for the Collection of Personal Information

When collecting personal information, HGPI shall comply with the undermentioned guidelines:

1.HGPI shall specify the purpose of its use to the fullest extent possible and shall collect only the information necessary for the attainment of the purpose.

2.HGPI shall collect personal information through fair means and shall announce the purpose of its use prior to its collection, or notify the individual to whom the personal information relates, or announce the purpose of its use promptly after collection, unless otherwise allowed by relevant laws and regulations.

3.HGPI shall use any personal information for the purposes undermentioned:

  • Distribution of HGPI’s publications and email newsletter, announcement of projects, and other relevant communications.
  • Invitations to and provision of information on projects, meetings, services, etc. hosted or co-hosted by HGPI.
  • Seasonal greetings and performance of other social customs.

4.HGPI shall use personal information only within the scope of the purposes of use specified and shall not provide any personal information to any third party without the prior consent of the individual to whom the personal information relates, except in the following events:

  • Where and when it is requested by law.
  • Where and when services, etc. provided by HGPI are disclosed to a person responsible for the operations of directly delivering such services to its recipient, to the extent necessary for the performance of delivery operations.

5.HGPI shall make efforts to maintain the personal information held by HGPI so that it is accurate and up-to-date to the extent necessary for the attainment of the purpose of its use.

6.HGPI shall implement rational security measures to prevent and correct illegal access to personal information; loss, destruction, falsification and leakage of personal information; and risks related to personal information.

Implementation of Privacy Policy

1.Implementation System

  • The implementation of this Privacy Policy shall be the responsibility of all officers and employees of the Institute; the executive director shall be appointed the main contact and shall promote detailed measures.
  • The Institute shall thoroughly supervise all directors and employees in complying with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information and all other relevant laws and regulations

2.Consignment to Third Parties

The Institute shall not, in principle, consign to third parties the daily operations of personal information, including its management and use. However, in the event that it should consign the processing of personal information, it shall implement appropriate security measures including the signing of a nondisclosure contract and shall conduct appropriate supervision of the contractor.

3.Disclosure and Update of Personal Information

In the event that the Institute is requested to disclose, correct, and/or delete any personal information by the individual to whom it relates, it shall disclose, correct, and delete the personal information to a reasonable extent. However, in the event that the request does not meet the requirements stipulated in the Act on the Protection of Personal Information, or that disclosure is deniable under the Act on the Protection of Personal Information or other relevant laws or regulations, requests may not be fulfilled.

5.Continual Improvement

The Institute endeavors to maintain appropriate management and protection of personal information through review and improvement on an ongoing basis.


While the Institute endeavors to maintain the accuracy and timeliness of the information provided on this Site, the Institute does not give any guarantee as to its accuracy or timeliness. The Institute shall not be liable for any loss or damage suffered by the user through the use of this Site and cannot be held liable for compensation for any such loss or damage. In addition, the Institute shall not be liable for any loss or damage inflicted upon a third party as a result of the user’s use of this Site. Articles with bylines contained on this Site have been released under the sole responsibility of the writer and do not represent the opinion of the Institute. HGPI Social Media Guidelines

Purpose of usage

These guidelines outline matters related to the operation of accounts on social media services (including X, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube) belonging to Health and Global Policy Institute (“HGPI” hereinafter), and HGPI will make every effort to uphold them.

Basic policy

The objective of utilizing official social media accounts belonging to HGPI will be to provide the latest information regarding HGPI’s operations, initiatives, and events to deepen understanding toward HGPI among users while enhancing user convenience. These accounts will be primarily used to disseminate information and, as a general rule, HGPI will not reply to or address any inquiries or comments submitted over social media. HGPI will accept opinions and inquiries through the “Contact Us” section of its official website. Please note that matters related to privacy will be handled in accordance with HGPI’s privacy policy, which can be viewed above.

Operation methods

The official HGPI social media accounts will be operated by the HGPI secretariat for the purposes listed below.

(1) Information to be transmitted

Information to be transmitted on HGPI’s official social media accounts is as follows.

  • The latest information regarding HGPI, reports on events hosted by HGPI, etc.


  • While HGPI will make every effort to ensure information posted on its social media accounts is accurate, HGPI assumes no responsibility for any actions taken by users using information provided on its social media accounts.
  • HGPI assumes no responsibility for any reply, repost, comment, etc. posted by visitors to its social media accounts.
  • HGPI assumes no responsibility for any trouble or dispute that occurs among users or users and third parties in relation to its social media accounts.
  • The copyrights of comments and other posted content belong to the users who posted them. However, by commenting, etc., users agree not to exercise said copyrights against HGPI and grant HGPI the right to use posted content free of charge and on a non-exclusive basis, worldwide.

Removal, etc. of submissions from users

Please note that HGPI may remove comments or other submissions, block accounts, or take similar actions without prior notice in the event one of the following applies.
  • Content violates or may violate laws, ordinances, etc.
  • Content defames specific individuals or groups
  • Submissions carry political intent or are made as part of religious activities
  • Content infringes on intellectual property rights including copyrights, trademarks, and portrait rights belonging to HGPI or a third party
  • Content is meant to advertise, promote, solicit, or serve as business activity, or fulfill any other commercial purpose
  • Content is discriminatory or encourages discrimination on the basis of race, ideology, creed, etc.
  • Content infringes on public order or sound morals
  • Content is false, factually incorrect, or intends to promote hearsay or rumors
  • Content infringes on privacy, such as by identifying individuals or disclosing or leaking personal information without consent from the party in question
  • Content impersonates another user, a third party, etc.
  • Harmful programs, etc.
  • Inappropriate content, including obscene expressions
  • Any altered version, in full or in part, of content provided by HGPI
  • Content unrelated to content posted by HGPI
  • Any other information HGPI deems inappropriate, including links to sites that include such content

Matters related to copyright

Except for personal use, quotation, or other use permitted under copyright law, content posted to HGPI’s official social media accounts may not be reprinted or otherwise reproduced without express permission from HGPI. When quoting, etc., please clearly indicate the source of quoted material in an appropriate manner. Please note that detailed provisions related to copyright will be handled in accordance with these guidelines.

Disclosure, alteration, etc. of usage guidelines

The content of these guidelines will be posted on HGPI’s official website. Furthermore, these guidelines are subject to change as necessary and without prior notice.

*Please note that social media accounts operated by HGPI projects will also be operated in accordance with these social media guidelines.
