[In the Media] “Recommendations for Correcting Regional Disparities in Breast Cancer Care” (Hokkaido Medical Newspaper, March 3, 2025)

On January 31, 2025, Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI) published “Policy Recommendations on Addressing Regional Disparities in Breast Cancer Care”, which was featured in the Hokkaido Medical Newspaper on March 3, 2025.

The newspaper article summarized the institute’s findings on four key regional disparities: Access to multidisciplinary treatment based on the latest evidence; Access to advanced medical care (including personalized medicine, clinical research, and clinical trials); Treatment options and medical support associated with breast cancer treatment (fertility preservation, appearance care, breast reconstruction); and Social support for breast cancer patients, including employment assistance. Based on these disparities, the article outlined three challenges and corresponding measures: Establishing a Sustainable Healthcare Delivery System Adapted to Regional Realities,” “Visualization and Improvement of Healthcare Quality through Data Utilization (Ensuring the PDCA Cycle)” and “Patient Engagement and Social/Economic Comprehensive Support”).
