[Activity Report] HGPI Participates in NCD Alliance’s “Our Views, Our Voices 2019” Workshop for Educating Trainers and Enhancing Advocacy Abilities for People with NCDs (June 26-28, 2019)
date : 7/20/2019
On June 26, 2019, NCD Alliance※ held the “Our Views, Our Voices 2019” workshop for enhancing the advocacy abilities of people with Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and educating trainers. PPeCC representative and person living with an NCD Ms. Haruka Ikezaki, Representative Director of Heart Valve Voice Mr. Hitoshi Fukuhara, and HGPI Senior Associate Ms. Yuko Imamura all participated in the workshop.
Twenty-two participants representing people with NCDs and alliance members from eleven NCD Alliance countries (India, Egypt, Ghana, Guyana, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Trinidad and Tobago, Mexico, Barbados, Japan, and Lebanon) came together for this three-day workshop. Participants deepened their understanding of the current status of and issues facing NCDs and NCD policy from a global perspective. They engaged in group activities to learn how to disseminate their experiences and to acquire strategic methods for developing them into more impactful advocacy activities. In the future, members who participated in the workshop will become trainers in their home countries and regions that will plan and implement local training programs for strengthening the advocacy skills of people with NCDs.
※NCD Alliance: A collaborative platform bringing together over 2000 civil society organizations / academic institutions in more than 170 countries. HGPI become a full member of the NCD Alliance on January 17, 2019.
